Shared Sunset

Sun bleached california with a southern twang

Approaches the solo man singing to the sunset as it fades

Watching the sun melt as he strums away— a slow kiss between night and day

She’ll wonder who placed this stranger in front of her gaze (she’ll wonder about him and his ways)

Words turned into song, and there’s nothing to do but dance and sing along

Molded like clay is the free words of night and day

He’ll sing about the sun

And all it’s done

Yet this yellow turns mellow

Turn around there’s the haunting blue, Competing views (daunting duality)

The pale moon appears but wait she never left

Dancing in the dark

Under the unseen stars

(Still asking the moon who hung you?)

The fire in the sky is tamed by the ocean

Drip drop flame, an underwater commotion

I’ll blink and it’s still near

And then it’ll disappear

Like you and and me, we were never here

 Lonesome but not lonely

I’ll float off like that pink sky

I’m glad I said hi to this guy

I hope you come back to serenade the lonesome lonely night

Woops

Did I catch ur name?

I guess I’m the one to blame…

Most people (out here) call me dell and I hope your night was swell

It was very swell to meet you too dell

I hope crossing paths was a highlight for you as well

Reading this was so awesome, it really made me smile

Thank you for sharing a bit of your style

I like the way you get along with words

Evocative and playful like those little birds

That scuttle in out of the tide

Waves just out of reach

One of the many things I love about the beach

It’s special moments like these

strangers writing poetry about shared sunsets puts me at ease

It’s why I’m here. So, thank you for sharing that with me

I can’t write or rhyme or paint pictures like you

this is just my attempt at gratitude

My name is Jonathan. Take care and see you soon ✌️
